Chris Drage
Hey, I’m Chris. I started Play Loud because there is nothing quite like the rush of playing live music with a band—and I wanted to share that exact feeling with the next generation.
My own musical journey started right where your kids are now. I spent my school years climbing the AMEB ladder in trumpet and music theory, eventually training in the Young Conservatorium music program. From there, I stepped onto the professional stage—spending years performing and touring in bands, recording albums, making music videos, and working everywhere from frontline stage roles to singing and songwriting.
As a father of four, I know firsthand how powerful music is for a child's confidence, and I also know how busy family life gets. That’s why I designed Play Loud to bring premium, structured group coaching straight onto school grounds—making it completely hassle-free for parents.
We don't just teach notes. We take the intimidation out of the classroom and bring the true joy of performing back. Together with our team, we are here to pass on a lifelong passion for music, building the teamwork, timing, and confidence that turns school-day learners into stage-ready rockstars.

A: We make it completely hassle-free for busy families. Because our academy operates right on school grounds, it fits seamlessly into the school day. For our primary school rockstars, a Play Loud coach personally collects your child from their classroom and escorts them to our music zone. For high school students, they simply make their own way down to the designated Play Loud room when their lesson time kicks off. No extra driving, traffic, or weekend commuting required for you.

Our programs are fully tailored to grow with your child, welcoming students all the way from Prep right through to Year 12. Whether they are picking up a heavyweight instrument for the very first time in primary school or honing advanced stage skills in senior high, we have a spot in the band for them.

Your monthly payments remain exactly the same year-round, making it easy to budget without any surprise spikes between terms. All payments are processed securely through Stripe, our trusted automated payment platform. Best of all, there are zero hidden equipment fees—all premium instruments, amplifiers, and stage gear are fully provided during our sessions!

A: Yes! We love seeing families rock out together, so we offer a 10% sibling discount. Activating it is incredibly easy: when you click your school's secure Stripe payment link, simply update the Quantity section to match the number of children you are enrolling (e.g., set quantity to 2 for two children). The 10% discount will be automatically calculated and applied to your total right then and there.
